Choicecomics.net started in 2006 with the intention of learning PHP. I wanted to build a database driven site that allowed me to learn mySQL as well. The idea came to me as I was reading through some webcomics one day and realized I was browsing through artists "links" page and was finding new webcomics from their favorites.

In the middle of developing, I decided to make the site live and start getting a user base to help me beta test my site for errors and usability. This was going great until one fateful day, I tried to log onto the forums and was slapped in the face with a large "HACKED!" image. I had stupidly used an open source php Bulliten Board (left unnamed) which apparently had a very large security hole. I deleted the site and put up an extended maintenance message which stayed there for a long time.

I lost the drive to finish the site and it sat for a year and a half unfinished. Sadly, when I did start back on Choicecomics.net I had to purge the user database which led to the purging of the webcomic database.

In the developement of Choicecomics.net the goal has changed several times. I've stripped some features, added many others and developed the existing features into something more. This site will be ever expanding and changing.

As it stands now, I am building Choicecomics.net to be a place where creators and readers a like can come together and confer with each other to better the internet's reading enviroment. I hope to allow direct feedback from reader to creator so that the creator can best suit the needs of the audience they want to appeal to. I hope that my link buttons on their site can eventually be a symbol of pride of their artwork framed in their website.
