Goblins is one of the many D&D based fantasy webcomics, but it takes a very different spin from most of the others: it follows life through the eyes of typical "evil" characters, most specifically a small group of homeless goblins.

This comic is wonderful for D&D and general fantasy fans, though I think a full appreciation can only be obtained if you've at least played a few tabletop sessions before, as there are many, many references to roleplaying in the comic. Not enough to throw off somebody unfamiliar with D&D and other paper-and-pencil roleplaying, but you will miss out on a good section of the humor if you don't get it.

The writing is excellent and feels like a well-run campaign a talented DM might come up with for his players. Thunt knows how to build up action and illustrate battle scenes to great effect, and often is spot-on with the delicate balance of humor and drama without going overboard.

The art... Well, Thunt is obviously a very talented artist, don't misunderstand. For me, the particular style he uses in Goblins is a bit too bumpy and slightly awkward for my personal preference. However, he utilizes it well and the pages are well colored and attention-grabbing. Give Goblins a try if you haven't already.

Outstanding! Seriously... And the artist is a pretty stand up guy too. (Wrote him an e-mail telling him how much I liked his worked and re replied promptly with a genuine response, that’s something to be looked up to.)

Holy--! I follow two comics by the update, and this is one of them. Goblins. The story starts out funny, and as it progresses, there are still jokes, enough to keep the people reading for the gaming humor entranced. What caught me was the ability to tell a story. The story told in Goblins is astounding, moving, sometimes enough to bring you to tears. It's violent, brutal, showing the pain and suffering of innocent goblins slaughtered mercilessly for the EXP of adventurers just looking to level up. It was a good idea. And the writer and artist pulls it off well. The art doesn't develop all that much, most of the archives are in the inked, nearly flat color. But it suits well, where the art isn't necessarily beautiful it serves to pack the punch. These people are SUFFERING. They're in PAIN. The author is just brilliant with drawing expressions. Just brilliant. There's a huge archive. I read it all in one shot and stared depressedly at the screen, wishing for more. I've never read a story so entrancing before. Wonderful art only goes so far. But Goblins gets it right: the art is pretty good to look at and the story combines elements of humor, drama, action, excitement, and grief in all the right ways. Either you'll care for this team of Goblins by the end or you have no heart! ...Or, you know. You just want the EXP. It's one of the better known gaming/Dungeons and Dragons parodies on the web, and for good reason. Goblins does it very well.

I really like Goblins! The story is entertaining, the characters are funny and range from cliché to complex. It is a little bit sad, that it is updated only frequently but on the other hand that's understandable because of the size of the pages. If you are new to the story: There is quite a huge archive! So go on reading! And check out the "Tempts Fate"-Stories, too. Cool idea!

It's amusing. The art is pretty decent. It's kind of like Smurfs do D&D.

Sometimes funny, sometimes moving. The art is great, the idea is cool and it all meshes together perfectly.
