The art isn't bad, the writing isn't bad. Unfortunately, I've not seen anything that really jumps out at me as unique about this comic. Storm is about a wizard's daughter who ran away from home, probably because she was sick of being sheltered. Therefore, she's a sheltered, naive, fluffy headed comic relief main character. A cliche, but also an interesting main character. Of course she's adopted by a mercenary because she's obviously rich. Conveniently, otherwise there'd be no plot. Naive, sheltered main character with a slightly disgrundled mercenary. Actually, it's kind of a boring, overdone cliche. Right now, the story lacks depth. It's just 'naive, cute girl with opposing personality companion'. Let's see, so far they've gone shopping. I hope it picks up. I like the characters. They're cute, they have personalities even if they're a bit stereotypical. The main character's not a typical looking heroine. But frankly, the only reason I'm reading the comic off and on is in the hopes that she gets traumatized by the real world. Because I used to be like her. In fact, she even looks like me... overweight, long brown hair and girly happy fluffy fluff fluff. I never liked shopping, but hey. She's a familiar character for many people. And quite frankly, I hope Storm does it well, rather than continuing to present happy, colorful fluff. I want to see it turn out to be a good comic, really. But here, look at the front page for yourself: "Knowing absolutely nothing about the perils of the real world, and equipped with a lot more gold than is sound to carry around, Arche is in for the adventure of a lifetime! Come with her as she hires a greedy (and somewhat gender confused) mercenary to be her bodyguard slash tourist guide, and then proceeds to run into a confused spirit of music, a frog prince and an evil wizard! (or, you know, whatever other generic fantasy tale this turns out to be ^^)" Generic fantasy tale. Yeah, that about sums it up so far. I want to see it become outstanding. The art's nice, expressive and colorful. The writing's not so bad that I want to choke myself. Boring, but not so bad. It's just a bit generic. I'd recommend it to people who I knew liked girly fantasy so far, but right now... it's too fantasy to appeal to people who're really girly and it's too girly to appeal to guys and girls who like not-girly things. The main character's naive and fluffy. I don't want to see that CHANGE, I just want to see it written well. The secondary character is cynical and greedy. I don't want to see it change, I just want to see it written well. Because, you see, Storm isn't bad. I want to like it. I like the fact that the main character's fat and naive and hopefully going to be traumatized by how the real world really is. I like the contrast between Eolill and Arche and want to see their lives endangered and both of them learn valuable lessons as they get into a whole lot of trouble together. I don't want the story to be all fluff, like Arche currently is. Storm: it's not bad, but it's setting itself up to be generic. Tune in again in a few months to see if it stays generic! If the writer's good, it most certainly will not. It's just beginning now. We'll see how it goes. Runaway princess/naive main character has been done a lot. They always end up with an opposite minded character. It's overdone, it's typical, it's generic. That doesn't mean Storm will be bad. In fact, it has good art and strong characters... so far. Let's see if it can hold to that and not become just another generic fantasy story, like it says on the front page. It's really only just begun. Storm: it's not bad.
