What can I say? It's a fairly typical fantasy manga. The art improves quickly in the beginning, settling to a nice manga style--it looks professional and good enough, with clean inking and decent looking manga art. It certainly improves, the way it started was akin to 'Marty Stu', the male equal of Mary Sue, but it quickly gained more character than "his life sucks" and the main character becomes curiously amusing. But there's the key: amusing. Where the author is trying to present a serious fantasy story, or, at least, what feels like it SHOULD be a serious fantasy story... it's cheesy, and full of tacky, manga-styled comic relief. If you like giggling over super-deformed chibi characters shrieking and the general traditional manga style of humor (character deforms into chibi, flails. Character glares, punches people out of the page. Etc. Etc.) it's certainly for you. It does what it's trying to do well. As mentioned, it can get a bit tiring to read. It feels like the author wants to present a serious fantasy, and writes for serious fantasy--but every other page is comic relief. The font choices are horrible. I think this page displays what I'm trying to explain nicely: http://undertow.dreamshards.org/4/u4_3.html - Page three of chapter four. The character falls into snow. The first panel is serious, the dialogue is all serious, the next panel is serious... suddenly, panel three, he deforms into a chibi sort of character to make a snarky comment, and then it leaps back to being serious. It's highly jarring, the continual leaps between humor and chibi-stylized things, and then completely serious drama. It's not a bad comic. It looks good, it certainly improves as it goes--her color art is gorgeous, as is her black and white. It looks good. The font is ehhh. The writing's not bad when she's being serious about it. If you don't find the style and the method of writing jarring, it's a great comic. I felt it had decent characterization and presentation from the beginning. It's well worth a look if you like fantasy manga.

It's a fairly standard run of the mill fantasy story. One thing that makes it a little tiresome to read is that it's really wordy for my taste and the choice of font makes it a little tiring for the eyes. However it is amusing, I like the characters and overall it's well drawn. It's not a bad comic, but it's not outstanding either.
